Abstract
[Purpose/significance]This paper explores the changes in priority areas and the evolutionary trends of research priorities in each area in the eight rounds of the EU Framework Programme(FP1—H2020)by analyzing the research areas and research themes of the EU Framework Programme research projects. [Method/process]This paper was based on the publication data of the Web of CORDIS,which was collected by a python crawler.Then,this paper classified the projects by subject areas according to the program documents and subject classification system,mined the research themes of each project using the Phrase Rank algorithm,and analyzed them for funding input,country research priorities,and domain themes.[Result/conclusion]The results of the study show that:the priority areas of the framework program are changing,the proportion of the budget in the traditional areas of engineering and communication is decreasing,and more and more investment is made in the areas of social sciences,transportation,medical and health,and the inclusion of emerging important strategic areas such as security and space.The European research cooperation network is centered on the UK,France,Germany and Italy,with different countries playing their respective strengths in different research areas;the research priorities in each area are also changing with the development of science and technology and the changing needs of society.
