Abstract
[Purpose/significance]The participation of archival institutions in scientific data management is of great significance for optimizing the scientific data management process and realizing the collaborative management of scientific research archives and scientific data.[Method/process]Based on the DCC data curation model,this paper adopts case study method to investigate 5 cases of scientific data management practices in scientific research institutes,scientific research enterprises and higher education institutions,and summarizes three main modes of archival institutions participating in scientific data management,including function combination,resource sharing,and independent operation.[Result/conclusion]It is found that archival institutions are not involved widely in the formulation of scientific data management strategic plan currently and the problems of scientific data management include the lack of source control for data quality,the lack of data value appraisal work,the single long-term data storage technology,the pending supervision of data sharing and utilization,and the pending improvement of data integration service.It is proposed that archival institutions should participate in scientific data management in future by improving data management awareness,strengthening communication and collaboration with scientific data management institutions,and promoting exploration of feasible collaboration modes.
