Abstract

[Purpose/significance] Advances in Information Science is an important review publication in the field of information science in China, analysis its published papers could be able to know the development and hot spots of information science in China, and also could provide reference and guidance for follow-up research. [Method/process] This article, taking the papers published in Advances in Information Science（Volume 1-12） as the research object. Firstly, we using bibliometrics and visualization methods analyze of the article quantities, authors and institutions distribution. Then, with the method of contents analysis, we summarize the topics and characteristics of the papers and forecast the future research hotspots of information science in China. [Result/conclusion] It is showed that the articles number of each volume published in Advances in Information Science is stable, some authors formed a small cooperative group but the groups'numbers are less and the intensity of cooperation between groups is weak, most of the authors are mainly come from information department and intelligence research institutes. The main topics of those papers are basic theories of information science, information resources management, emerging information technology and so on, and each topic presents different characteristics.
